A Children's Concert with CJ: CJ

CJ: CJ is a "Parent's Choice" winning, career performer and recording artist that brings a unique energy and pop/rock feel to his children's music. With musical hooks and a strong emphasis on motions, the ”CJ Experience“ is both highly interactive and engaging. At the core of CJ's signature musical recipe are the foundations of early child development such as, listening and tracking skills, rhythm and beat identity, cross-body movements that are critical to brain development, and actions that promote a healthy active lifestyle. Familiar traditional song favorites and demanding motions and sing-alongs make CJ's school assembly a favorite and set teachers up for success by improving listening skills and harnessing students' need to move by allowing them to move "On purpose, with a purpose." His 6 classroom-targeted recordings, along with more than 30 teacher support "Big book" song cards, have been promoted and sold in over 60 major cities in the United States since the early Nineties making him one of the most popular artists in elementary classrooms today.

Description of program: CJ's concert set list includes many popular traditional songs, and a few of his well-known hits. He invites his audience to engage in motions, to sing along, and to stand up and dance in place. His wireless microphone allows him to dance and move freely about the stage and play multiple instruments including his "key-tar" (guitar/keyboard), djembe drum, and other percussion instruments. Before "5 Little Ducks", CJ breaks down the elements of a drum beat and builds a simple beat with the audience to demonstrate rhythm and basic drum sounds. Every performance is concluded with an uplifting version of “This Little Light of Mine" in which students are invited to sing loudly in unison with CJ and profess to "Keep their lights bright" CJ's playful approach to music will steal the hearts of little ones and big kids (adults) everywhere.
