David Herbelin: A graduate of UCI’s School of Drama and Second City Los Angeles, David has a solid dramatic background combined with quick wit. David has worked with Arimaw Productions to write, direct, and perform in shows for San Diego's Wild Animal Park and the San Diego Zoo. He has also worked as a consultant for Walt Disney Imagineering and performs regularly for Disney Entertainment. As a Second City Main Stage Alumni, David represented Second City in many improv events. He has developed shows for leading educational assembly companies and currently has several of them available through the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
Description of programs: Shows that meet scholastic standards providing education through entertainment with shows based in Science, Literature, Nature, Conservation, or Theatre.
Writing A to Z: Take your students through the entire writing process from beginning to end. Taking a location, plot, character and student suggestions a new story is created through an improvisational game showing the genesis of writing. Then selected stories written by students from your school are performed and brought to life on stage showing the beauty of the first draft. Finally the initial audience created story is run through improvisational rewriting exercises illustrating the value of rewriting. Authors will be celebrated, and the audience will be inspired to write from A to Z. (Grades K-8)
Icky Yukcy Gross Bug Show: Play along with this dramatic, interactive and improvisational presentation about insects as your students forget they are learning science. (Grades K-8)
Theatre Through the Ages: Travel through history from ancient Greece to the present as David brings to life the stories that lie at the leart of all theatrical mediums in a visual journey through the evolution of the theater. (Grades K and up)
Science Magic: Decipher the secrets of magic through this interactive presenation by using the scientific method to discover that the secrets of magic are based in science and that science is truly magical. (Grades K-8)
Endangered Species: Raise awareness of the affects we have on our planet and the animals we share it with in this exciting courtoom drama where audience members are the suspects, judge and jury. (Grades K-8)
