Inside the Outdoors: A unique and hands-on environmental education program administered by the Orange County Department of Education. Our mission is to empower students, teachers, parents, and the community to explore natural areas and expand their knowledge. Inside the Outdoors has been a leader in hands-on science and social science programs since 1974.
Description of programs: The curriculum is aligned with California Science and Social Science standards and allows students to interact with these concepts in a real world setting. Our programs take lessons from the classroom and create fun, unforgettable hands-on experiences. These are powerful moments that leave children with a lifelong enthusiasm for the environment.
Field Trips: Students move out of the classroom and into nature for real-life learning.
Traveling Scientist: Scientific concepts are explored through hands-on activities in the classroom.
Outdoor Science Schools: Overnight programs that improve social skills and the understanding of our natural environment.
Community Programs: Our family environmental education events include hands-on programs such Community Nature Day, Eco Fabulous Fashion Show, Wildlife Cartooning, Summer Day Camp, Teacher Institute, Astronomy Hikes, Local Lore Hikes, and more!
