Living History Experience

A NEW interactive program
where students interact with history.

Jacque Nunez: A descendant of Leather Jacket soldier, Felicious Rios, who guarded Father Serra on his journey to San Juan Capistrano. For generations, the Rios family intermarried with the indigenous people of the Acjachemen Nation. She grew up as a young child in the oldest home in California, occupied by the same family. The oldest street in Orange County is named after her family, Los Rios Street.

Description of program: Pioneer Town is not an assembly, but a unique, hands-on, interactive living history experience. Storteller Jim Lewis introduces the Gold Rush era to "set the stage" before your students jump into history. Ten different interactive stations include:
• Making a Arrowhead • Making a Shell Necklace • Carding Wool • Rolling Dough • Churing Butter • Grinding Wheat • Panning for Gold • Shaving with a Popsicle Stick • Washing Clothes on a Wash Board • Playing with Wooden Toys from the Past.
