Jeff Rubin: Punctuation Playtime

Jeff Rubin: Founder of Punctuation Playtime® and National Punctuation Day®, is The Newsletter Guy, owner of the Pinole, CA-based newsletter publishing firm of the same name.

Previously, Jeff was a newspaper reporter, columnist, and editor for papers in New York, Connecticut, Illinois and California. His freelance articles have appeared in Family Weekly, Runner’s World, Basketball Weekly, Consulting Today, and Professional Speaker magazines.

Description of program: A participatory, theater-like experience. The program encourages teamwork and involvement while teaching proper punctuation. They do this with fun activities such as:
• The Punctuation Relay
• The Wynken, Blynken, and Nod Poetry Punctuation Contest
• The Punctuation Rap, performed by facilitators AND students
• Pin the Punctuation Mark on the Sentence
— all designed to reinforce important punctuation lessons.

Grades: 1-6
Instruction Materials: Teachers' tools, classroom aids, posters, student activity book
